Hard-coatings
We believe that hard-coatings are a necessity for the future of boat windshields. The main item that limits the life of a boat windshield is the use of chemical cleaners with acetone content, such as Windex.
Coatings not only make the windshields immune to these chemicals, but also provide a hard surface to prevent scratching.
If the boat windshield is made of Lexan, then it is absolutely imperative to keep it from yellowing.
Aerodynamics
Acrylico has studied the aerodynamics of windshields so that they achieve their main purpose: the guidance of airflow away from the operator. This is a very complex business and it is a mistake to suppose that this is a problem limited to high speed boats. The interaction of T tops, for instance, poses a complex aerodynamic problem that can only be analysed by sophisticated software programs or wind tunnel testing.
Optics
We utilize the knowledge gained in the aerospace field to strive for the best possible optical characteristics of our boat windshields. Many times this isn't easy, so we support our customers in designing for excellence.
